All About Me

Hello,

My name is Beth Leffel. I am 17 years old and a senior attending Edgar High School.

I believe my family atmosphere has shaped my life. I have four siblings, two brothers and two sisters, ranging from 18 years older than me to 11 years older than me. Growing up this way, at times I felt I had the best of both worlds, in that I had siblings yet often felt like an only child. Still, at other times it was the worst of both worlds, no one to play with or study with yet I had to share a room with my older sister. The sharing a room part wasn't a problem for me, I was about 5, but looking back now I can only imagine how she felt.

Studying psychology is important to me because I think it is important to understand ours and other peoples thoughts in a professional way, rather than judging people.

I believe psychology is the study of conscious and unconscious thoughts.

  1. Beth,
I can relate to the part of your blog about feeling like an only child; because I am an only child. When I was younger I always wanted a sibling but now I am glad that I am an only child.

  2. Beth,
I can only imagine how your sister felt. I was little when I had to share a room with my baby brother. But just had to do it again, and a 17 year old and a 14 year old in the same room is not fun. So having to share a room with a 5 year old, I can't imagine doing that.

  3. I can somewhat relate to you as well. I had to share a room with my older brother, and let me tell you that was an experience in itself. Nonetheless, it was a good experience.

  4. Beth - Hey, i am kinda in the same situation you are. I had my brother around when i was in elementary school, and because he was in high-school, it still felt like he was non-existant. I wished back then that i had another sibling closer to my age that i would have related to better, but now that i am 17, and my parents can focus only on me (when i want them to that is) and only me, its great. I wish i had someone here to talk to. But it is good for us to have our parents all to ourselve with our siblings moved out. You know the bonding, whether we like it or not! :)
